The software that determines the classification of the front passenger may not function correctly. This may result in an installed child seat being identified as a person, or a small lightweight person being identified as a child seat.

In both cases, the risk of injury to the front passenger seat occupant would be increased in the event of a crash requiring airbag deployment.
